Mixed Martial Arts Workouts
Mixed Martial Arts requires strength, agility, endurance, power, and speed, . In order to fight to the best of your ability you must train beyond what you previously thought possible.
MMA strength workouts can consist of traditional weight lifting as well as work with a grappling dummy or kettleball. It's not necessary for the grappling dummy to weigh the same as your opponent, the dummy will feel substantially heavy due to being "dead weight". Most MMA competitors are lean, mean fighting machines and don't have bulky muscles like traditional weight lifters or bodybuilders.

The Battling Ropes Challenge is a dynamic training DVD that shows you a wide variety of exercises in the Battling Rope Level 1 training. Even though John Brookfield, the creator of the Battling Ropes, calls this training tape level 1, he takes you through the basic exercises. He then takes you onto the intermediate exercises, and then the advanced exercises. This training tape will ground you and give you more than enough knowlege to prepare you to climb the ladder and into other levels of the system. John takes you into exercises in the kneeling and seated positions, as well as demonstrates exercises that actually will double the intensity of your training. The Battling Ropes Challenge will train you how to sustain higher intensity for longer durations of time. This sustained intensity is the result of the fact that the system demands that you use constant velocity instead of momentum. Approx. running time is 55 minutes.

The most important lifts for MMA fighters are power-cleans, dead lifts, squats, pull-ups and bench-presses. Core work including sit-ups and push-ups is equally important. Working the transverse plane helps with rotation during striking.
Cardiovascular endurance and stamina can be increased with activities such as:. sprints, stair climbing/running, and rope skipping. Kettle ball or medicine ball workouts strengthen every part of the body and if done at a moderate intensity can also be a cardio workout.
Women are typically more flexible than men are and can have more instability around the joints. It's helpful for women to perform mixed martial arts workouts that increase the strength and stability of the ankle, hip and knee.
