Mixed Martial Arts Instruction
MMAuses various fighting methods from a variety of traditional martial arts. Mixed martial arts instruction teaches participants to use grappling and striking techniques both standing and on the ground.
While there are several different governing bodies for mixed martial arts competitions the following actions are generally considered fouls in mixed martial arts:
* Eye gouging
* Fish hooking
* Biting
* Manipulation of small joints
* Throwing the opponent intentionally out of the cage or ring
* Intentionally holding the cage or ropes
* Fleeing the cage or ring
Typically each round is 5 minutes in length with a rest period of one minute in-between the rounds. In many competitions non-title matches cannot exceed three rounds while title matches can go five rounds if necessary.

Some of the common rules of mixed martial arts instructions are stated below.
* If a fighter becomes unconscious, the opponent is declared the winner. .
* Tapping 3 times on the mat or body of the opponent at any time during the fight signals "tapping out" and the opponent wins. Alternatively the match will end if one of the fighters makes a verbal statement that they are surrendering.
* TKO or Technical Knockout
The referee in the middle of the match can stop the further progress:
* If, in the referees view a fighter has develped significant injury such as a broken bone or is experiencing uncontrolled bleeding.
As with any sport the referee defines the rules and applies them to the best of his or her ability. Some MMA instructions or rules may vary depending upon the levels or standards of different mixed martial arts tournaments.
