MMA Gyms
Along with the rise of popularity of mixed martial arts has come a surge in the availability of gyms dedicated to MMA training. If you're looking for a gym in your local area be sure to look at MMA-specific gyms as well as those specializing in jiu-jitsu and other martial arts.

MMA Gyms follow many of the same practices as their single discipline counterparts. If you're accustomed to a fitness gym rather than a martial arts studio you should study the rules carefully. Here are typical MMA gym rules:
1. Students must train with respect and consideration for other students. All students must be considerate of other students, guests and instructors at all times.
2. Student must cover cuts or wounds on their body before class.
3. Student must be hygienically considerate of others - we work in close contact so take showers and use deoderant as necessary and ensure fingernails and toenails are kept short.
4. Students must show up on time for class. Students who are late will wait to be acknowledged and admitted into class by the instructor.
5. No sparring is allowed for prospective, new, sick or injured students
6. Please do not do any of the following during class: (A) chew gum, (B) wear street shoes, or athletic shoes you wore from the parking lot, on the mats, (C) talk while the instructor is talking.
How to find a MMA Gym:
If you're new to MMA and don't know where to find a gym Google is a great place to start. All gyms should allow you to watch classes to determine if the gym will benefit your mixed martial arts training and most gyms offer the ability to try a class before commiting. Unlike fitness gyms most MMA gyms do not require a lengthy contract and many offer unlimited workouts.
